The speed of the "transaction", the stress of the patient, the "hidden consent", the misunderstanding of medical terminology, I mean you name it, the patient is on the "foggy and losing" side. Is this even being considered by the healthcare systems?
The patient is mostly just a source of income in the process, right now. If you look at the time the doctor spends with the patient, you just wonder how anybody is getting care. This is the sad state of affairs, unfortunately.
However, we can be better than that, much better. We still can take advantage of the efficiency and yet be human in caring for others. We have to balance everything and consider what is most important: the wellbeing of the patient. That psychological aspect through emotional intelligence matters a lot in building trust and make patients comfortable.
This is more than timely, and one can't overestimate its importance. Scarry field/area.
Absolutely right that it is scary. Our deficiency in establishing healthcare systems and infrastructure is at the heart of this problem.

Sad indeed, is it being seriously addressed ?
I am not sure. I doubt it. We need to ask clinicians about it.
